Contre la Montre by car:

Thursday 8th September:

Another rainy day so another late & lazy start to the day but with a picnic packed we set off on by car to follow the route I rode just a few days ago for Julie to take in the views, well what could be seen thro’ the low clouds. We found a spot for the picnic tho’ & thoroughly enjoyed it.

Once back at base I decided to partake a little run.

A wet day meant no cycling today & a slow start to the day, after lunch we bit the bullet & set of for a woodland wander in the rain. A great little walk, ya' can't beat a wet woodland walk.

Lac de Vassiviere, Part 3:

Sunday 4th September:

Part 3: This was planned to be a ride around the lake together for Julie & I but she was feeling a bit under-par so I set off for a solo circuit of the lake on the bike whilst Julie had a wander along the shore side taking some pictures. The weather was still overcast & I thought I might get wet but luckily the rain held off. We did get a downpour just as we got back to Teapot Cottage tho' . After all this activity we enjoyed a picnic at the waterside, which included, probably the best bread "In the World" which we got at the market yesterday.

Lac de Vassiviere, Part 2:

Sunday 4th September:

Part 2: This was really for me, a 10km run along the road at the edge of the lake. Despite it being very overcast it was very close so the run was hot! Julie rode alongside with drinks & a towel. Although part of the reason for coming to the lake was to try & find some flat-ish roads, there doesn't seem to be any!

Lac Vassiviere, Part 1:

Sunday 4th September:

Today we planned a trip to Lac du Vassiviere where we were going to undertake a three part training schedule:

Part 1: set off in opposite directions around the lake at our own pace, once we met we would return together, Julie went clockwise whilst I rode anticlockwise. This meant Julie completed a full clockwise circuit of the lake whilst I did about 5km extra.

Au Pays des Monedieres:

Weds 31st Aug 2011:

A good ride with Julie, 3 coffee stops & a light shower, the girl done good! This was a mapped ride from a booklet we have of rides in the region, how come we did 8km more!

The picture above was taken just a couple of kilometres after we set of on this ride. A welcome coffee & Pain au Chocolate was welcome at Condat-sur Ganaveix after about 25k. From here we continued to a lovely slice of Quiche & Salad at Masseret at about 35km & a final coffee & Coke at Chamberet leaving us about 10k to get back home. A great steady ride by Julie.
