Third Time Lucky:

Garmin Connect - Activity Details for Third Time Lucky:

The plan for today was for a group of us to drive over to Rugeley to partake the Dan Fleeman Reliability Ride/Tour de Nock. As we drove West from here it became clear that there had been some snow, although only a dusting it seemed to be getting worse so a group decision was made to give it a miss as the route we were planning to ride took in a lot of lanes which could have hidden ice on them under the snow! Back home & it seemed fine, so after a trip to the tip I decided to contact the guys to see if any of them wanted to come out, just one taker, Simon. So I set off to meet him. Just after setting out I thought I could hear a click, click click from the back. I hoped it would go away but no and before I stopped to check it was clearly going down!!! GRRR!!! A careful ride home hanging as far forward over the bars as I could for a quick wheel change, inflate & gear change check & away I go again....

We had planned to do 25-30m/40-50km but the day seemed fine if cold so we cut back & forth to get in as many of the local climbs as we could taking it to 48m/78km with 2500+ft/790m of ascent...

All in all the day turned out O.K.

Mercia CC Reliability Ride, 100km.

After yesterdays ride this was tough! Spent the ride on my own except for about 3miles to the halfway point. I was staright out the back from the start, mind you there were sevral Elite riders there at the start & it was suggested that they got back just after 12noon, 60miles in 2hrs!
That's a tad quick for me, I just made it round in 4hrs, after all I did ride there & had to save something to ride home.....

Saturday Club Run:

A bit further than planned but a good cafe stop near the end!!!

Garmin Connect - Activity Details for Saturday Club Run:

After last weekends experience/mishap with the rear hub I ordered a pair of Shimano RS20 wheels from Reliable Ribble. So first ride on them today & they're fine, maybe a little more comfortable than the Mavic Aksiums they have replaced......

The Snow's gone!!!

Activity Details for The Snow's gone!!!

Back on the road today, the snow's gone and it seemed relativly mild.

Back to Mr Ribble this afternoon. I stood up to try & catch the group as I was dropping off & thought I'd pinged a stone across the road, when my buddie caught me up he asked 'is your back wheel buckled?' a quick look down & the answer was 'yeah, think I just broke a spoke'. Closer inspection at home revealed that the spoke fixing on the hub had split! Bugger!!

OffRoad Club Ride, 10th Jan 2010.

Nine set off on this snowy morning from Heather, later than usual at 10.00am, for an off road ride. Two didn't go all the way but the remaining seven clocked up 30ish miles, mostly off road using byways & bridleways. There were sevaral 4x4 drivers out & about down the byways. Stopping for a breather alongside the Ashby Canal the snow continued. It was a great ride with no injuries to either bikes or riders!!!
