The plan for today was for a group of us to drive over to Rugeley to partake the Dan Fleeman Reliability Ride/Tour de Nock. As we drove West from here it became clear that there had been some snow, although only a dusting it seemed to be getting worse so a group decision was made to give it a miss as the route we were planning to ride took in a lot of lanes which could have hidden ice on them under the snow! Back home & it seemed fine, so after a trip to the tip I decided to contact the guys to see if any of them wanted to come out, just one taker, Simon. So I set off to meet him. Just after setting out I thought I could hear a click, click click from the back. I hoped it would go away but no and before I stopped to check it was clearly going down!!! GRRR!!! A careful ride home hanging as far forward over the bars as I could for a quick wheel change, inflate & gear change check & away I go again....
We had planned to do 25-30m/40-50km but the day seemed fine if cold so we cut back & forth to get in as many of the local climbs as we could taking it to 48m/78km with 2500+ft/790m of ascent...
All in all the day turned out O.K.
